Mario and Sonic: Red and Blue is a fanfiction story written by MarioFan65. This story is a crossover between the Mario and Sonic games and focus on both worlds apart aside from the olympic games. The story is set in 2008 and is one of the prequels set in the Crossover Omniverse Saga like the Mario and Spyro trilogy. It was released on July 2, 2018.

- The story took inspiration from Super Mario Bros. Z (both the original and reboot), a sprite animation series by Mark Haynes/Alvin-Earthworm and the Mario and Sonic movies in Gmod (Garry's Mod) by GamingAllStarsGmod.
- The title is a nod to the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon GBA crossover games from 2004.
- Since the story is a prequel, the timeline take place in August 2008, a few weeks before the events of Mario and Spyro: The Shadow World.
